WORKSHOPS

FAUX-FUR

Learn the basic faux fur techniques from cutting to finishing while making a fingertip length cardigan.  Casual but classy, the faux-fur is trimmed with ribbing around all edges and pockets.  You will have time to complete your garment in this one day workshop.  Time: 5 hours plus meal break.  Price:  $85.00 includes all supplies to make your finished cardigan.  Specifics needed:  Size in ready to wear and height.  Color choices:  Black and brown or gray and black.  Requirements for class:  minimum of 8 (up to 30).  Participants need to bring machine with extra needles (size 12), corsage pins, and good scissors.

#2 - ANIMAL MUFF

Learn the basic faux-fur techniques while making a darling stuffed animal that is actually a child’s muff.  Time:  2 ½ hours.  Price: $45.00 includes all supplies.  Choices:  bear or bunny.  Requirements for class:  minimum of 12.  Participants need to bring: sewing machine, extra needles and scissors.

#3 - LONG COAT

Dress coat with either pelted or non-pelted faux fur.  This requires 2 days to make the complete coat and includes all supplies for the coat itself.  Experience with faux-fur is helpful but not necessarily.  Swing coat style is recommended for someone with no faux-fur experience.  Straight coat is preferable when working with a pelted fur.  Time:  2 full days with a lunch break each day.  Price:  $165 - $350 depending on fur selected.  Minimum of 8 participants.  Style choices:  long straight coat with shawl collar, swing coat, or long straight coat with stand up collar and hook at neck.  All fabric and faux-fur furnished.  Participants to bring machine, corsage pins, scissors, extra machine needles, and hand needles.

#4 - REVERSIBLE MINK AND DENIM/MINK JACKET

One of our most popular jackets can be completed in this 2 day workshop.  This is a VERY warm garment and not recommended in mild climates.  Time:  2 full days with lunch break.  Fee:  $165.00.  Participants need to bring:  machine, corsage pins, several pair recycled jeans, extra sewing machine needles.  All other supplies will be furnished in your class kit.  Class minimum – 8 participants (maximum 15).

RECYCLED NECK TIE VEST

In this class you will draft your own vest pattern and be fitted by Evelyn in the first two hours, break for 30 minutes, then come back and make a fitted vest using recycled neck ties in a crazy quilt application.  Time:  5 hours plus a 30 minute break.  Fee: $45.00.  Participants need to bring:  machine with extra needles, straight pins, minimum of 5 neckties which have been cleaned and stitching removed and pressed open – more would be better.  2 yds. fabric for lining and back that will blend with the colors of the ties (I prefer a piece of polyester to lining fabrics generally.)  Black, gray and navy are usually good choices.  Decorative thread or piping optional.  Class size: 10-12 participants.
